A new direction for FragDeluxe
First and foremost, we’d like to thank all of our players for sticking with us, continuing to play on our servers and being a part of the community. With the New Year, we will be heading in a new direction for FragDeluxe, taking what we’ve learned over the years and using it as a foundation to build something bigger and better.
The first step we’ve taken is giving a new look to FragDeluxe. We felt like this would be the best time to rebrand the community as it will match our new approach for the community. Our new logo is refined and up to date, taking elements from our old logo such as the color and feel, but improving every aspect of it. We scrapped the circular shape and went for a clean wordmark instead.
The old logo was limited due to Its reliance on gradients. We eliminated this problem by opting for a color palette consisting of only three colors similar to those we had before as this is what we’ve come to associate with FragDeluxe. In regards of scaling we ran into the same limitations, but due to the simple nature and flexibility of our new logo, this won’t be an issue anymore and opens up more avenues for future design. Overall we’re trying to modernize the look of FragDeluxe with the rebrand and our new website which aims to be more streamlined and user-friendly. A new and updated look for the forums is soon to follow.
Our second step will be focusing on improving the general quality of life on the servers. We are currently in the process of rewriting existing code which should improve server performance and make the servers more stable in the long run. Right now our focus is solely on the main servers to get them properly running and to provide you with the best possible experience, if you happen to have a complaint please be sure to let us know as we will be more than happy to look into it. Next up is the potential opening of new servers. In the near future we plan to release our own surf server that we’ve been working on behind the scenes. If you would like to see something in particular let us know!
Our third step is to focus more on the community. We want to be more involved with the player base, keep you up to dated with the various changes going on behind the scenes and to know what, you, the players, want to see from us. To tackle the issue of keeping the community up to date, we’ve switched primarily to Discord in favor of the forums. However, we will only be using Discord for small updates and bug fixes. Large updates, future plans and announcements will be posted in a more detailed blog post on our new website. Moving away from the forum posts gives us a lot more flexibility with how we can present information all while keeping it clean and easy to read. We’ve appointed a social media manager to promote these blog posts and interact with the community more so feel free to follow us on there.
The best way to communicate with us, whether it be for giving suggestions, issues you’re experiencing or just wanting to interact more with us and the community, is by joining our Discord server. There’s usually always someone available and we’re more than happy to help anyone out if need be. We are confident that we will come back better than we have ever been before and we encourage everyone to get more involved. Pester us with suggestions and let us know what you would like to see.
To celebrate our new direction we will be hosting weekly VIP giveaways on Discord. This is only a small token of gratitude to the people that have helped us come this far and we will host more exclusive giveaways in the future. Again, we would like to thank you for your continued support and hope you will stick around to see these changes come into effect.
